Even Flow Counseling

Who I am

I am a licensed mental health counselor and child mental health specialist in Tacoma. Prior to entering private practice I was employed at Good Samaritan Behavioral Healthcare as a child and adolescent therapist. Additionally, I work with adults and adolescents as a contract therapist for Far West Family Services. I have extensive experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, family issues, academic and school-related issues, grief and loss, life transitions, drug and alcohol use, difficulties with relationships, and sexual identity issues. I have a special interest in working with new parents regarding the transition to parenthood and with individuals and couples experiencing infertility.

Is counseling for you?

At one time or another, most people will find themselves in a situation where they could benefit from the services of a trained therapist in order to cope with a challenging life issue or transition. However, some people feel uncomfortable asking for help or feel wary of counseling. I believe it is a sign of strength and an indication of courage to get help.

At times when friends and family aren’t enough to solve a problem or cope with grief, anger or depression, professional help can make the difference in how you cope, move forward, and resolve internal conflicts. If you feel that your problems, or those of your family members, are interfering with your ability to function at your very best at work or at home, it is time to get help. The sooner you start working on things, the sooner you will start feeling better and managing your life and your relationships better.

How do you get started?

I realize how important it is to have a good fit with your therapist. During your first visit we will take time talking about what you are looking for, getting to know each other, and discussing my approach to therapy. At the end of the session we will decide if we are a good fit. If working with me does not feel right for you and/or if I think there might be somebody else who would be better able to meet your needs there will be no charge for the first session. If possible, I will help connect you with a therapist who might be a better match for you.

I look forward to having the opportunity to meet you.

Take care,

Anne
